Planning for Artosphere 2011 has begun...

Harmonious Wail plays at Compton Gardens, May 2010Thanks for your support of Artosphere 2010!  We've already begun to plan for next year.  Here are some of the projects we're working on:

> The Artosphere Festival Orchestra

> A return engagement of TPO, the company that brought you "The Butterfly Garden", with their new show "Kindur", a journey of two adventurous sheep through Iceland's dramatic seasonal changes

TheatreSquared’s Arkansas New Play Fest this weekend

As part of Artosphere and in addition to four staged reading performances of new works in the Arkansas New Play Fest, TheatreSquared is partnering with Fayetteville-based Ceramic Cow Productions to present the Northwest Arkansas 24-Hour Play-Off this Sunday at 6pm at Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios (tickets just $10). In competition for the $1,000 Jury Prize - generously sponsored by C&C Services, LLC—teams of five artists will write, rehearse, and perform a new ten-minute play, all within the space of 24 hours.  Visit http://theatre2.org/ for more information.

Check out what’s happening this week during Artosphere!

The Man Who Planted Trees - This uplifting and unforgettable story (best for ages 7 and up) shows us the difference one man (and his dog!) can make to the world. Produced by Puppet State Theatre Company of Edinburgh, Scotland. Three shows at Walton Arts Center this Friday and Saturday. ALL TICKETS JUST $6! Click here for more information. 

Artosphere Family Open Studio Day with NWACCC - After coming to see The Man Who Planted Trees, head over to the Nadine Baum Studios for a free day of arts & crafts! Kids will get to experience creating windchimes, flags and card making and adults will have the opportunity to try out the wheel. Saturday, May 22, 11am-2pm in Nadine Baum Studios. FREE family event includes live music, food and fun for the whole family!

 

Sunday, May 16, 3-6pm at the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks

Hands-on Partners-In-Play activities that connect families, engage the imagination and celebrate arts & nature:

Nature Play Space: Green Tree Restaurant

Along a shady tree line and a trickling stream, children will create recipes from nature’s supermarket filled with leaves, seeds, sticks and stones that will make the most splendid appetizers, soups, and desserts!

Art For All Mural: Nature Everywhere Mosaic

Participants of all ages will discover the artist in themselves as they contribute cut-outs of butterflies, trees and insects to a large-scale mural.

Reading Railroad Story Drama w/Trike Theatre:All Aboard the Story Train!

Trike Theatre will have a teaching artist on-site to engage families through the interactive story drama, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle.  

Please make plans to join us before Family Day at the Gardens with the Artosphere’s Trail Mix Concert Tour from 1-3pm. Participants can hike or bike around the nature trail while six bands perform at five separate sites – starting at North Shore Park and ending at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks.
